Went here on Saturday looking for a car as mine had to be scrapped. James was extremely helpful and understood my situation. I had my new car 4 days later. James was very patient and playful with my 2 year old son and Sam was lovely too.
Would recommend these guys if you want good honest local service and advice.

Bought my son his first car from Border City Autos. Fantastic communication and attention to detail from the start. James dealt with everything and considering the price ranges of the cars its incredible value for money. More like a main dealer experience without the price tag. Would highly recommend.

In brief - female travelling 400 miles south to north for a holiday. 160 miles in, warning light 'engine system ...'. Breakdown company & most local garages useless but i got lucky when i rang Border City Autos, who said bring it here, we'll have a look. After a quick diagnostic, at no cost to me, BCA reassured me my car was fine to drive. So, I was able to continue my journey & have my much needed holiday.

A seperate issue arose on my holiday (now 400 miles away from home). Breakdown & local garages useless again . I called BCA who quickly diagnosed the fault, reassured me safe to drive & booked me into their garage a few days later on my way home.

I checked my car in on way home as agreed & guess what ? it was quickly looked at, test driven & fixed for a very reasonable price !!!

I cannot praise these guys enough. They were friendly, supportive, reassuring, honest, reliable, trustworthy and competent offering exceptional communication and very reasonable prices. They really went the extra mile, which was very much appreciated and rare these days.

Thank you so much guys. I just wish i lived closer because i'd definitely come to Border City Autos to buy my next car.

Edit, knocking off one star because they promised to replace rusty wiper arms in the presale contract, but ordered in the wrong ones, then promised to post me correct ones to fit myself, then never bothered to send them despite me chasing over the phone.

Just bought an older 2011 Honda from them and for no extra charge they did an MOT, full service, AC regas, new front shock absorber, new drop link and a wax oil underseal after removing the chassis surface rust underneath. They went the extra mile for me and the car drives and feels like new.

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE, Bought a focus had a vacuum pump fault took back been fixed 3 times still not fixed. Rewound the finance. Swapped car for a Transit had it 5 mins got round corner and went into limp mode. Attitude of the staff is disgusting, total cowboy company. Stay clear

Friendly , very helpful, no pressure sales, helped me as I had not much experience in buying cars and was let down with my last dealings buying car from another garage, but Dave was so understanding and helped me with absolutely no pressure, responded very promptly to any worries or concerns, I’ll be taking my car that I bought from border city cars to get all future services an mots , I stay over 40 miles away but we’ll worth the trip to a genuine trustworthy friendly garage , thank you ?

Do not hire a car from Drivalia at Border City Autos, Carlisle.

When we arrived to collect our car from Border City Autos, they unexpectedly demanded an additional £200. During our rental, a delivery van caused minor damage to the car, which we reported to Cumbria Police as a precaution. I immediately informed the Drivalia office at Border City Autos, who assured me it would be handled on return. The delivery company agreed in writing to cover up to £2,500 in damages and provided their insurance details for any excess.

Upon returning the car, I was given the Drivalia Fleet Manager’s email and instructed to send all the relevant documentation, which I did in full. Despite this, a month later, Drivalia charged £1,575 to my credit card without warning. They now expect me to pursue a claim for reimbursement, and to make matters worse, a rude and sarcastic representative from Drivalia criticised MY attitude over the phone!

Their behavior has been unprofessional, dishonest, and completely dismissive of customer concerns. I would never use them again.

UPDATE: in reply to Border City Autos reply. When you call them on the telephone they answer the phone with the exact words "Hello, Border City Autos, Drivalia". At no point when you pay them in their office and collect the vehicle from them do they deny being associated, indeed they describe themselves as a 'franchise'. Only when something goes wrong do they deny responsibility. Their reply is a textbook example.

I got a van sam helped me sort finance and went above and beyond to help me as I have mental health a learning disability anxiety and depression and lack understanding and vice versa Sam went through everything and helped me get finance as I am going self employed 2 days a week and increasing delivering parcels and my car wasn’t ideal and wasn’t great becoming unreliable I needed a van got it serviced mot jobs done on it cleaned and valeted jobs done on it like a brand new van also sorted my road tax for me I would throughly recommend border city cars they go above and beyond great customer service very understanding and nothing is to much give them a try thanks Sam and the team chris mason
