After a lot of research we took our Smart fortwo to Sam and could not be any happier. From the initial communication and various conversations to the completions of works and great advice given to prolong the life of our wee car. We for sure will not take our car anywhere else for any work as it is rare to find a garage who provides such a high level of service and customer satisfaction. I would 100% recommend Sam for all your service needs for any Smart model you may have!

We have been using Mercedes for years, then heard about Sam and the great job and knowledge he has about Smart Cars. It was refreshing to have someone who has a genuine interest in the car he is working on and not some snotty Mercedes Mechanic, sorry technician who gives the impression he has been given your Smart to work on as some sort of punishment.
Sam serviced our 453 and did a great job pointing out potential issues for the future and things to look out for. He offers a great professional service and will be looking after our Smart from now on. A pleasure getting to know him, highly recommended. Always refreshing to meet someone who obviously loves what they are doing.

Sam has been fixing Smarts for many years. Always does an excellent job.
He was recommended to me by a friend who had a 450 serviced by him several times. He serviced my 453 for a very reasonable price last year and I intend to use him again whenever he’s available (which is not often as he is always in demand).

Sam is just fantastic. I purchased a LHD 2001 Smart Fortwo in preparation to head back to the EU. Sam was booked solid until October, well after I would be gone, and he went out of his way to make it work. I dropped the car off about 2 weeks ago and Sam worked on it whenever he had a tiny break in between his already full schedule. Sam was honest, happy to explain things I didn’t understand and make sure the car is ready for the journey back home. His billing is fair and incredibly reasonable. He sends you photos of everything he worked on and examined. Very thorough. The one Smart dealership in Glasgow has good reviews for sales but not quite for after sales service and my gut told me I shouldn’t take the car to them. I’m so happy I trusted my instinct and found Sam. His level of expertise is unparalleled. The Scottish Smart car community is lucky to have him.

I had my first full service done at the garage with my new Smart. I am absolutely delighted with the work done and also knowing my car is in the hands of someone who is as passionate about Smarty’s as I am, also I am not getting charged MB garage ridiculous prices..!
I am planning to get a few extras done to my car with Sam, his attention to detail and getting the best out of your car is second to none.
Would highly recommend Sam with your Smart car, he’s simply the best!

Quite simply the best place you could take your Smart for maintenance and/or repair.

Always friendly and accommodating and with real expert knowledge that comes from a genuine passion for these amazing little cars.

Spare parts seem to be always on the shelf so work is completed quickly and efficiently and the whole exercise represents excellent value for money.

I wouldn't sent my smart car anywhere else 🙂

So you have a Smart and you need it serviced or you have a problem...
Go to a Mercedes dealer: you'll get a cup of coffee in a china cup, with saucer; probably get a selection of today's newspapers; get a comfy seat and be able to watch tv; get a whacking great bill; probably not get all the work you thought you were getting done, carried out; probably not get the fault sorted. Then you find out about Smart Car Scotland.

Of course you could save you time and money and go straight to Sam. OK, you may well get a cuppa, but it will be in a mug in a portacabin. The car parking is not beautiful tarmac and you won't get your car power-washed after it's service... as if any Roadster owner wants a power wash near their car! However you will get the opportunity to meet Mr Grumpy, who under this façade is actually some form of automotive wizard who knows more about Smarts than the main dealers and possibly even the manufacturers.

Sam's hourly rate is fair... especially as he knows what he is doing so faults are diagnosed and rectified quickly, keeping costs down. Sam has a stock of spares and service parts, but he also has a stock of serviceable parts removed from Smarts, which are beyond economical repair.

I am quite sure Sam could sort a variety of vehicles... but he doesn't. Sam is a Smart Specialist and consequently he has amassed considerable knowledge covering all varieties of Smart... though he has a passion for the two Roadster variants.

Suffice it to say, I would not go anywhere else with my Roadster.

Visited Sam today as had some issues following last repairer leaving the car in an open yard for weeks on end to replace a starter motor. The radio had gone into safe mode and I never had the code, so had to change the unit, plus the spare keys would only flash the lights but fail to open the door-locks. Both jobs done within minutes. Sam told me about some features on the car I never knew of and clearly has a in-depth knowledge of Smart cars. He also steered me towards suitable speaker replacements and other tips for the car. I'll be using him again.
