The speech therapist that did my swallow study was innovative, patient and always showing concern for not only me but for getting the best pictures possible being that I presented him with a challenge of being a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. He did an excellent job done and did it brilliantly!

Went there to get my son's cast off today. He was neither quiet nor calm for them but the entire staff was so very patient. Nurse Amy was fantastic at getting the job done. My son was freaking out, despite everyone's best efforts to calm him. The staff was great for the whole thing, very kind and considerate.

The knowledge and communication of the staff in ICU was very helpful, however for an ICU floor it is EXTREMELY NOISY. Let’s just say, there is no respect for the patients experience especially those with brain complications. The entire floor needs a staff meeting on speaking quietly to each other in the hallways. For a floor with critical patients, you’d think you were actually at a bar with all the yelling across the rooms, boisterous laughter and literal shouting talking over each other. My boyfriend needed absolute quiet for his critical condition brain to heal. I felt like there was no respect for his condition while at this hospital. This is coming from a woman who has had cancer twice and felt very respected by her hospitalization care team in Chicago. They took utmost care to make the room and floor I was in was peaceful and sacred. Staff spoke to each other calmly and quietly. Here my poor fiancé had an ICP in his brain and there were female nurses shouting and laughing over him practically the entire time. We had to be the ones to request a QUIET ICP MONITORING sign outside his door and for it to be shut. And still no respect when they came in. Speaking at unnecessarily FAR above normal levels while in his room. Shame on this floor.

Yet again another horrible experience at this hospital. This is the place where I feel the least safe during covid and it is completely due to the unorganized and in thoughtful procedures put into place.

Today I came for a necessary apt for my son. When I arrived there was a line of about 10 people congregated to get in. I assume it was due to increased covid screen but instead it was becAuse they decided to implement a metal detectors during a pandemic. This mean they thought that it was a good idea to have some stranger touching ALL your things and everyone else’s during a pandemic. Sounds like a GREAT way to spread germs to me. I asked the person to put new gloves on before touching my things but this wasn’t something they were automatically doing. Also there were no 6 feet markers in the line.

Then I went to my doctors apt and was told only 4 people were allowed in the waiting room and I was asked to wait outside. Wouldn’t really be a problem except that we were then exposed to many more people walking by. There was also more people having to wait in the hall than in the waiting room and 2 people walked by me talking without a mask on.

This is a horrible hospital system and, as the mother of a special needs child, I will move to another area rather than continue to come to this hospital.

The staff was mostly friendly for both of my children's imaging appointments. The ultrasound tech was amazing. The echo tech looked and sounded incredibly bothered to be working on a toddler. My biggest issue is with the records. I was told 2 days for both of the results. It's been over a MONTH for one of them and 10 days for the other. I've called imaging and records over 2 dozen times and it just rings and rings before it hangs up. If I get to an operator they just send me there. If I alert them of the issue they send me to the front desk. Who then sends me to the imaging records WHERE NOONE EVER PICKS UP. I JUST NEED MY CHILDRENS RESULTS!!!

I'm sorry to the caring nurses and doctors, but my experience with St. Joseph's was horrendous. Too many reasons to even list here, but if you value your health, sanity, money, and time, STAY AWAY! I have found that Advent Health is far superior to St. Joseph's and BayCare.

Many of my child's specialists are all housed in this one building. It's convenient, clean, and easily accessible.
